DRMS – Drilling Resistance Measurement System
The DRMS Cordless (Drilling Resistance Measurement System) is a device designed to perform simple but specific drilling resistance measurements.
The drilling resistance measurement system carries out some important tests that have been used to characterize stone and other materials in depth.
The drilling resistance measurement system can detect fluctuations in the drilling resistance with depth around the mean value. These fluctuations can be attributed to, among other causes, non-homogeneities in the material, such as different sedimentation layers, different grain size and resistance, micro and macro cracks etc.
With the drilling resistance measurement system device we can perform simple but precise drilling resistance measurements, giving accurate prediction of the rock toughness and a prediction of the uniaxial compressive or flexural strength.
The drilling resistance measurement system can measure continuously the penetration force, the penetration torque and the actual drill position.
The DRMS Cordless is frequently used in the field of cultural heritage to assess the state of conservation of historic buildings and monuments that may have deformed over time or to evaluate their effectiveness of specific treatments.
Main DRMS applications are:
